100 Learning professionals to follow on Twitter

I have been using twitter for a couple of months now and sort of 'poking it with a stick'. I could see it has potential but I wasn't quite sure how I could really make the most of it. However I read a post by Jane Hart on the Centre for Learning and Performance Technologies web site and this has now all changed!

Jane has listed the twitter addresses for a whole host of learning and development people. I connected with about 50 of them over the weekend and can now see what a powerful network this is.

Take a look yourself and start tweeting by connecting with me.

okay I'll give it a go Chris - but I'm still trying to get my head around the value & focus to twittering.

Looking at a few postings they seem a mixture of RSS substitutes (eg highlighting blog posts) and contextual info (eg your comment about your new job).

It will be interesting to learn how much value the social commentary adds to building professional ties (akin to team building in the non-virtual world).

Have you found any data looking at using twittering in the workplace to enhance L&D ?

Good for you John - I think it is one of those things that you have to actually try out to see if it can provide value.

I wrote a post a few months ago on how Twitter could be used in an L&D context:

It seems to be gaining a lot of momentum but I am not yet aware of it being used much in a corporate environment.

I have found it interesting to see what other L&D professionals are up to via Twitter. For example I discovered Jane Hart's post via Twitter.

For me, tweating is about relationships rather than data (sometimes referred to as proprioception, ambient intimacy, phatic expressiveness...) although I accept there are more informational uses as well (eg http://twitter.com/lovelltelescope)!

Cheers, Jon.
